How to add a saved or canned response

Updated last: Feb 28, 2025

Saved or canned responses are a live chat agent’s best friend in the battleground, especially when the day gets very busy! By just clicking a ready response found in the reservoir on the right when you’re chatting with a customer or site visitor, you can reply in an instant without typing those long answers.

The saved responses feature is available to all Offerchat users. You can add common replies, chat messages and answers to frequently asked questions in the Saved Responses by logging into the Offerchat dashboard and following these steps:

Select a website (when in Dashboard View)

Click a website under your name where you want to add saved or canned responses.

Go to Live Chat Settings > Saved Responses

Note: Agents will immediately see the saved responses screen. Main account owners and administrators need to click the Saved Response tab.

Alternative:

Click New Response (when in Chat Panel View)

If you are already chatting with a visitor in the chat panel interface, click New Response found in the upper right hand corner of your screen. The button is right next to “Saved Responses” and just below the “Logout” link on the top navigation.

Start adding a response

Click on from the live chat settings or New Response from the chat panel interface to bring up the box pop out. Here you can supply the necessary details for the saved response.

Fill out the form.

The form below will save the responses you created in the Offerchat live chat system. The shortcut will be the label of your saved response. Pick a label that will closely remind you of what the response is for. It should be the gist of the response. Then type the complete response message you want to save for future use. This message will automatically fill the reply field in the chat interface when you click the same saved response from the list.
