Offerchat and imo for Android Integration
The instant messenger app, imo, also has an Android version. The interface is slightly different from the iOS version but it’s pretty much the same process. So for those of you who are sporting Android phones, you can definitely do a free live chat with your clients and site visitors while you’re out and about. Follow these steps for initial installs:
Download an imo for Android from Google Play and install.
Already using the app? Just open your apps drawer and tap the imo logo to add your Offerchat account.
Steps to Integrate Imo for Android with Offerchat
Sign in to imo for Android app
In case of a first install, the app will ask you to create a public profile for the imo network. You can skip this process and go straight to adding a chat account by clicking Sign In as shown in the image below:
Add an account
Choose an instant messaging (IM) network to add in your imo stream. Tap Jabber.
Login to the network
Since you’d want your Offerchat live chat session to connect in this app, type in your Offerchat account details.
Enter the email address you registered for Offerchat without the punctuation marks. That is, without the ampersand (@) and dot (.) and then use @realtime.offerchat.com to complete the email.
Example:
Offerchat registered email address is [email protected]
In this case, it should be [email protected]
Then type the password you’re using for the live chat account.
Chat panel display
After you have successfully signed in, the Offerchat live chat stream will appear in the interface. It will show all visitors currently on your site. It’s so much like being on the Offerchat dashboard.
Start chatting with a customer
You can initiate a chat by tapping the head icon of the visitor you’d like to interact with and tapping “Chat” at the bottom. As you can see, visitor details such as location, page being viewed, and other details are also being displayed in this app.

Update (4/10/2025): To avoid any conflict on the display name on the widget and to ensure the widget on your site displays the name you want to appear, set a display name on your Account settings in the Offerchat dashboard. See this post for step-by-step instructions.
